Vodafone Germany launches Cyber Security Centre for SMEs

Vodafone Germany has launched a new Cyber Security Centre in Düsseldorf which aims to support and protect small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the digital world.

The Centre will employ more than 100 security experts, working around the clock to monitor, analyse and resolve cyber security issues for companies throughout the country.

SMEs: a growing target for cyber criminals

Small and medium-sized companies are the backbone of the German economy, but also a popular target for cyber criminals.

While large corporations often have large IT teams and dedicated resources to counter cyber-attacks, SMEs can be unprepared and unprotected. Their relative lack of cyber expertise makes them frequent targets, especially during weekends and holiday periods.

In fact, recent studies have found that more than half of cyber-attacks in Germany today are directed against SMEs. The effects can be devastating, with the average business taking 21 days to fully recover.

Around-the-clock protection

The new Cyber Security Centre will help SMEs of all shapes and sizes to stay safe, by detecting cyber-attacks at an early stage and triggering protective mechanisms to minimise potential damage.

The team will remain in constant contact with business owners throughout any incident via an easy-to-manage CyberHub, which displays information about the current security status and averted attacks.

In addition to defence against specific attacks, the Cyber Security Centre will also provide companies with training tools to educate and equip employees with the right skills to detect future threats.

Vodafone is responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of security systems used by customers. It is also working closely with a range of technology partners, including Microsoft, Lookout, CybSafe, TrendMicro, Zscaler and Google, to integrate a wider range of tools and services in the future.
