Technology and Innovation
Quantum Computing
Quantum computing is arguably the biggest revolution in computing since the 1950s.
Quantum computers have the potential to solve ultra-complex problems which otherwise would take many hours, weeks or even years to process on today's classical computers.
At Vodafone, we’re exploring how quantum technology could result in a better and more secure experience for our customers. It can help us to decide where to place our antennas and base stations, detect anomalies in our network, or build quantum-safe tools to protect data and systems from future threats.
Find out more about how quantum computing works in our explainer video.
Improving our services
IBM and Vodafone join forces to explore quantum computing
Vodafone is working with IBM to explore quantum computing use cases in telecommunications, advance employee skills, and recruit quantum computing experts.
Driving customer experience with quantum
In partnership with IBM, we’re working together to assess a diverse set of Vodafone use cases which may allow us to gain a quantum advantage and result in a better and more secure experience for our customers.
Protecting customers
Quantum - a revolution with risk
Vodafone and IBM are collaborating to implement quantum-safe cryptography, protecting data against potential quantum threats, and exploring quantum computing applications in telecommunications via the IBM Quantum Network.
Preventing quantum-enabled cyber attacks
We are working with technology partners and industry bodies such as the GSMA to explore quantum-safe defences to help protect customers, governments, and society at large from any future threat.
